Hydraulic Live Line Jib
Our Live Line Jib is the only approved lifting device in Australia that is rated to 66kv (can be rated to 500kv) and can lift live conductors. The jib can be used on an existing crane borer or purchased with the perfectly matched Altec machine.
When matched with our Altec Crane Borer you get the added durability of the fibre glass boom over a steel boom. Booms are designed on a 8:1 Kaizer effect safety rating. Most steel booms are on a 5:1. Steel booms will eventually wear out simply due to rust, expansion and wear. Fibreglass, if properly maintained, will not suffer the long term effects as steel. Historically Altec has manufactured over 125,000 glass booms and generally units are decommissioned more for steel issues than fibreglass. Approx. 10,000 units with glass booms from the 70’s still in operation and over 40,000 from the 80’s and are protected by a life time structural warranty.
Note all components powder coated both internally and externally which adds to long term safety and quality.
The benefits of the jib on Altec Crane Borer are summarised as follows.
- Safety – Conductors are fixed and controlled, there is no risk if the weather changes or if there is accidental line movement i.e. car hitting pole, The crane is fitted with an insulated boom as secondary protection
- Productivity–18 – 45 minute pole changes, (alternative is to use a 20tonne crane), our clients estimate 30-50% productivity gain
- Remote control – remote enables the operator to see the conductors lining up with the traps lowering the risk of human error and making the transition smoother and controlled
- Less Resources – Possible single man Glove and Barrier job, multi purpose
