TMXScan® (Timber Member Cross Section scanning)

This system is the most advanced and reliable non-destructive system for assessing the residual strengths of wooden poles available anywhere in the world. The hardware and software has been extensively researched, developed and tested over the past five years.

Key Benefits of assessing pole structures with TMXScan®:

1. Retention of asset structural strength through non invasive testing method - no digging or drilling is required;

2. Objective pole assessment - total removal of the current, human reliant and subjective testing techniques;

3. Reduction in pole replacement capital expenditure through an objective and engineering based modeling of pole serviceability - (based on Australian Standard AS 4676);

4. Mitigation of liability through a system that ensures compliance to the applicable Australian standards and codes;

5. Potential retention of current and proven inspection companies;

6. Environmental benefits in no excavations and savings in ground reinstatement; and,

7. Potential reduction in operational pole assessment expenditure by the reassessment of pole inspection frequencies.

A profile of the cross-sectional scan mapping can be viewed here: Scan Mapping.

Samples of actual cross-sectional areas and the corresponding TMXScan can be view here: Actual samples. (Source: EANSW NDE Study 1998)
