Best® Engineering (Comprehensive structural design)

The Best® Engineering package allows designers and engineers to undertake desktop designs from data provided by field personnel (usually only one site visit is required). This structural engineering tool complements the skills of designers but maximises compliance to Australian standards. It provides accurate designs, mitigating risk of liability and over engineering. Best Engineering is also compliant limited state modelling in the ESAA Guideline C(b) 1.

All the data for this program is derived from the LSEPatrol® data (including TMXScan®). There are no extra field visits required, the designer only has to build the structure, including all the attributes and attachments, on this MS Visio® based program. Drag and drop poles, conductors, stays, cross-arms and insulators (just to name a few attachment) and then calculate attributes such as cross-line and along line loads, serviceability, bending moments, shear force and foundation pressures.

This program includes the results of the TMXScan® which is factored into the serviceability modelling. There is no other existing program that includes this calculation in its modelling. That is why we can claim to be compliant with AS/NZS standards. Construction resources also benefit from this program as there are supplied with a list of major material items, once again saving on field visits.

Key Benefits of this system are:

1. Builds Australian standard compliance into design;

2. Reinforces the skill requirement for design but does not undervalue the process;

3. Provides cost savings by reducing the cost in rework and site visits;

4. Provides an audit (QA) tool (design and construct projects);

5. Provides structural data for 'as inspected', 'as orinally designed' and 'as reinforced';

6. Improves logistics management – material lists.;

7. Improves inspection / maintenance / construction QA;

8. Reduces the incidence of over or under engineering; and,

9. Provides key data for asset condition analysis using the LSEData system.
